If the bards of old were to recount the story of my brand, they would probably come up with something like this...
It is said that there was once a witch who did not come into the world in the usual way. She was not born, but summoned. Not by a mother or a father, but by the voices of everyone who had ever forgotten who they really were. From their lost desires, their unspoken truths and the masks that had become too tight, a spark condensed. And from this spark, she rose.
It is said that this witch wandered the world, seeing everything: the light, the shadows and the forgotten spaces within humans. She was neither light nor dark, strong nor delicate. She was many, and yet always one: the guardian of transformation. She was not visible to everyone, but she was felt by all those who thought they were too much or too little; too wild or too gentle; too light or too dark; felt in the places where they had forgotten to breathe.
The witch recognised a story in everyone. Hidden in each of these stories was a role that had once offered protection but had become armour at some point.
She saw...
The nice one who never said no.
The quiet one who carried entire universes within her.
The strong one who needed no one, but who quietly broke down from loneliness.
The invisible one who could no longer find herself.
The fire-bearer who extinguished herself for others.
The shadow keeper who was afraid of being seen.
The witch realised that many people wear masks and play roles in order to survive. Because they are afraid to shine or fall. To help others shed their roles, she had to learn to understand them from the inside out. So she began collecting masks, studying roles and illuminating facets. Not as a façade, but as a language. As a gateway to the different worlds of human beings.
Each face she wore opened a door: one led to the forests of wildness, one to the gorges of silence, one to the deserts of anger, one to the labyrinths of intuition, one to the lakes of gentleness, and one to the valleys of depths where words become spells.
At every full moon, she took off a mask; at every new moon, she put on a new one.
In this way, she learned not only about the origin of every inner light, but also about the origin of every inner shadow.
And eventually, the people whose lives she touched realized that it was never about the witch wearing a thousand masks. It was about her showing that each mask is a bridge back to the true self.
This is why she became the Witch of a Thousand Faces: not someone who holds one identity, but someone who holds the key to all the identities we have had to shed throughout our lives.
She is the guardian of transformation, the smith of the inner world, the companion of those who want to remember, and the voice that whispers, 'You are not too much. You are not too little. You just haven't fully returned to yourself yet.'
And every time someone begins to find their own truth, she passes on a mask from her cloak of a thousand faces, helping them to regain a piece of their magic.
